EAFs use an electric arc to heat the raw materials, while induction furnaces use an electromagnetic field to generate heat. The choice of furnace depends on the desired process speed, the size of the production line, and the type of magnesium alloy being produced.

Once the magnesium ingots are cast, they need to be cooled before handling or packaging.
